Brain Injury Leaves High School Football Player Hospitalized
A Pierce High School football player was in
intensive care after suffering a brain injury during Friday night's
game.
The Norfolk Daily News reported (http://bit.ly/raTsCC ) that
senior Shelton Dvorak is hospitalized at a Lincoln hospital after
he went down during the fourth-quarter of Pierce's 35-7 win over
Albion Boone Central..
Coach Mark Brahmer says it's unclear when Dvorak was hurt.
Brahmer says it appears it was a delayed reaction to an injury that
likely happened earlier in the game. The 5-foot-9, 165 pound all-state linebacker was playing offense in the fourth-quarter when he went down.
Dvorak was among Pierce's leading tacklers and rushers last
season and had rushed for 80 yards on nine carries in Friday's
game.
