Sam Burtch won two gold medals at last weekend's State Track and Field Meet in Omaha. He was offered track scholarships to Nebraska and Kansas State, and turned them down to walk on with the football team at Nebraska.
"I'm excited. State track's over, I've had this lovely career and everything, but I'm really looking forward to be playing football. I have the Shrine Bowl coming up, and I can't wait," Burtch said.
Burtch caught 44 passes for more than 1,000 yards last season, earning all-state honors and leading Elmwood-Murdock to the Class C-2 quarterfinals.
