Sandy Creek won its 10th state championship defeating Minden 51-45 in the Class C1 championship game Saturday morning at the Devaney Center.

If you sat down to eat your breakfast the several past years, then you’ve associated the meal with the Cougars of Sandy Creek as they won six state titles from 1991 to 1999 – in other words, breakfast with Sandy Creek is nothing new and it was the same Saturday.

Ashlee Harms and Mikaela Shaw led Sandy Creek with 18 points each. Harms recorded 7 rebounds and Shaw recorded 8 in the win. Sandy Creek shot 47 percent from the field, while Minden shot 36 percent.

Sandy Creek’s largest lead was 11 points near the end of the first half.

Hallie Bauer led Minden with 17 points and 5 rebounds. Jamie Kissinger and Brooke Kissinger scored 10 points each with Jamie grabbing 12 rebounds in the loss.
