The Aquinas Monarchs used a balanced running game to win the Class C2 Championship 27-13 over Kearney Catholic Tuesday at Memorial Stadium. The Monarchs totaled 170 rushing yards on 51 carries and scored four touchdowns in the win.
Austin Svoboda led the rushing attack for Aquinas with 52 yards and two touchdowns.
The Monarchs win their fifth state championship in school history. Their most recent state championship came in 1997. Kearney Catholic ends the season with an 11-2 record.
