The Giltner Hornets have a fascination with thrilling conclusions to basketball games as the Hornets captured their second-straight state championship with a 52-41 double overtime win over Howells.
Drew Ott scored a team-high 21 points and grabbed 18 rebounds in a 52-41 double-overtime win for Giltner.
Jake Findley hit the three-pointer at the buzzer of regulation. The officials went over to the video replay to make sure of the correct call and Findley's three-pointer sent the game into overtime.
Ethan Kreutz missed the game winner in the first overtime to send the game into a second overtime period and that's when Giltner took over to seal the victory.
Ethan Kreutz, the man responsible for winning the D2 championship at the buzzer last year added 17 points in the game.
Howells was led by Mat Gooch who tallied 10 points and 11 rebounds in the game. Brian Bayer and Jordan Brichacek scored 9 points each and Mitch Belina added 7 in the loss.
Giltner finishes the season with an undefeated 29-0 record while Howells closes the year at 26-2.
