College of Saint Mary volleyball coach Samantha Hammond has announced her 2011-2012 recruiting class. Joining the Flames this fall are Brittney Lester, Jessica Kuehner, Joy Leick, Mariah Voyles, Lacy Prusa, Brianna Sumner, and Danyle Borgmann.
“We have a lot of talent coming in this fall with our 2011 recruiting class,” said Harvey. “We have some incoming players that will compete for time on the floor.”
Borgmann, a 5-foot-9 outside hitter from Seward, Neb., played her high school career for Seward High School.
Kuehner, a 5-foot-9 right side hitter from Omaha, Neb., played four years at Millard West High School. While competing for the Wildcats, Kuehner earned Nebraska Class A Honorable Mention All-State honors and was named to the third team of the All-Metro team in 2010.
Leick, a 5-foot-9 outside hitter, played for Omaha Marian High School. While competing for the Crusaders, Leick was a member of the 2009 Nebraska Class A State Champion team in 2009 and Class A Runner-Up team in 2010.
Lester, a 5’5” libero/setter from Tecumseh, Neb., comes to CSM after playing four seasons at Johnson County Central High School. While competing for the Thunderbirds, Lester was a four-year starter and was all-conference in the ECAC each year of her high school career. During her career Lester set the Johnson County school records for set assists with 1,581 (454 during her senior season) and digs with 683 (151 during her senior season). Lester also accounted for 164 kills, 168 service aces and a serve percentage of 90% during her high school career.
Prusa, a 5-foot-7 libero/outside hitter from Norfolk, Neb., played her prep career at Norfolk Catholic High School.
Sumner, a 5-foot-8 setter from Fort Collins, Colo., played her prep volleyball at Rocky Mountain High School. She was a two year varsity letter winner and was named to the Academic All-State team in 2010.
Voyles, a 6 foot middle blocker from Farragut, Iowa, played for Farragut High School.
College of Saint Mary returns nine players from last season’s 19-17 team. The Flames had a 10-6 mark in Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference play. The Flames will open the 2011 season on Friday, August 26 at the Grandview Tournament in Des Moines, Iowa.
College of Saint Mary athletic teams are members of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the Midland Collegiate Athletic Conference (MCAC).
