Meghan Dennis led all scorers with 19 points to lead Gretna past Elkhorn South in a Class B state quarterfinal Thursday morning at the Devaney Center. Jordyn Wollenburg added 17 points in the win, including 3 three-pointers. Gretna shot 7 three-point field goals and was 6 of 10 at the line.
Maddie Simmons led Elkhorn South with a team-high 8 points.
Gretna (25-1) will play the winner of Northwest and Beatrice in a Class B semifinal on Friday.
Class C1: #2 Boone Central 22, #7 Columbus Scotus 19
Jamie Kennedy scored a team-high 7 points to lead Boone Central to a 22-19 win over Columbus Scotus to put the Cardinals into a state semifinal on Friday. Boone Central improves to 24-2 on the season following the win.
Columbus Scotus missed a three-point field goal as time expired, which would have sent the game into overtime.
Jordan Chohon scored a team-high 11 points for Columbus Scotus, who finish the season at 17-8.
Class D1: #1 Guardian Angels CC 54, #8 Amherst 46
Abby Ortmeier scored a team-high 22 points to lead Guardian Angels Central Catholic to a 54-46 quarterfinal win over Amherst on Thursday. Annie Niewohner added 12 points for the Bluejays in the win.
Guardian Angels (19-7) faces Friend (24-3) in a Class D1 semifinal Friday.
Shelby Hemmann led Amherst with 16 points and Jessica Fernandez added 12 points in the loss.
Class D2: #1 Lindsay Holy Family 67, #8 Hay Springs 25
Kaylee Jensen led Lindsay Holy Family with a team-high 20 points, leading the Bulldogs to a 67-25 quarterfinal win over Hay Springs Thursday morning. Andrea Weeder added 18 points in the win.
Kelsey Kudrna led Hay Springs with 6 points in the loss.
Lindsay Holy Family (22-1) meets Howells in Friday’s state semifinal with a berth in the Class D2 state championship on the line.
Hay Springs ends its season at 10-14.
