The Heartland Hoops Classic is Saturday in Grand Island, featuring 16 teams.
The event will feature the headliner game of Oak Hill Academy vs. Omaha Central, along with seven other exciting matchups. Oak Hill Academy (Mouth of Wilson, VA) is a perennial national powerhouse that has produced 55 Division I players since 2000, including Carmelo Anthony (Syracuse), Rajon Rando (Kentucky), Ty Lawson (North Carolina) and Nolan Smith (Duke). Omaha Central has won five Nebraska state basketball titles in the past six seasons, and is the two-time defending Class A state champion.
The sixth annual event kicks off at 8:30 a.m. on February 9, 2013, and all four Grand Island teams are once again in the lineup.
Tickets are priced at $16 for adults and $8 for students. A limited number of courtside seats will be available, and can be purchased for $70. Both general admission and courtside tickets are valid for all eight games. Tickets can be purchased at the Heartland Events Center box office, or through http://ticketmaster.com.
