Jake Findley threw five touchdown passes and ran for another score, and top-ranked Giltner won its first state football championship since 1984 with a 42-26 victory over No. 2 Humphrey St. Francis in the Class D2 final Monday.
Findley completed 35 of 52 passes for 396 yards for the Hornets (13-0). He finished the season having thrown for 3,904 yards, 67 touchdowns and no interceptions.
Dustin Hastings caught 14 balls for 118 yards and two TDs, Kyle Hawthorne 11 for 112 and a score and Ben Hinrichs seven for 132 and two TDs.
Nathan Classen was 9 of 17 for 117 yards and two touchdowns for the Flyers (12-1). Chad Haiar ran 17 times for 90 yards and JJ Oltmer had 24 carries for 89 yards.
