Lincoln Southeast running back Devin Washington was sidelined after the first half, but the Knights found a way to respond and that came in the form of a punishing defense in a 17-0 win over Lincoln East at Seacrest Field on Friday.
Devin Washington scored the only points of the first half, a 45-yard touchdown run with 3:13 remaining in the first quarter. The Knights were stopped by the Spartans on the ensuing possessions.
Lukas Gifford kicked a 33-yard field goal extending the Southeast lead to 10-0 in the third quarter and then a 5-yard TD run by Javier Faalii to go up 17-0.
In Washington’s absence, Faalii finished with 81 yards on 18 carries. Washington finished with 91 yards on 15 carries.
Southeast (6-1) closes the season out with games against Lincoln Northeast and Lincoln Pius X, while Lincoln East (3-4) finishes the regular season with games against Norfolk and Lincoln Southwest.
