It was an Omaha-area school coming out on top as state soccer champions in Class A, but the Knights of Lincoln Southeast proved they are right in the thick of things, as Millard North defeated LSE 2-1 in the girls state soccer championship final at Morrison Stadium.
Southeast knocked off defending champion Omaha Marian in the first round and then defeated Lincoln Southwest in the semifinals to earn a spot in the championship match.
Rachel Brennan scored both goals for the Mustangs.
Despite the loss, the Knights look to remain a contender in Class A as they return all but two players next season.
