The Lincoln Southeast girls soccer team is in the Class A state championship game following a 2-1 win over Millard North at Morrison Stadium in Omaha on Friday.
Millard North got on the scoreboard first when Kathleen Morford gave the Mustangs a 1-0 lead. The score remained 1-0 at the halftime break.
It wasn't until the second half when Southeast got started. Paige Nielsen netted her 38th goal of the season, tying the game at 1-1.
Later in the second half, Hannah Wampler scored a goal giving the Knights the 2-1 lead. The goal by Wampler would be the difference as the Knights are back in the state championship game.
"I don't know we felt like we domianted the first half, but the shots weren't going in and we just felt like we had to execute and we weren't going to end tonight. We knew we had to get into that final and redeem ourselves from last year," Nielsen commented following the win.
Lincoln Southeast meets Omaha Marian at 7:15 p.m. on Monday for the Class A Girls State Soccer Championship.
