For Kara Graham and the Lincoln Southeast Knights, winning is a mentality. In the Heartland Athletic Conference tournament last week in Fremont, it was a capitol city sweep, as the Knights got a championship win defeating Lincoln Northeast for the tournament title.
The Knights went on a 15-2 run to open a 16-point lead in a 59-44 win over the Rockets.
Lauren Stricker keyed the win for Southeast scoring a team-high 19 points in the win.
“This is a big win for us, this tournament helps us finish out the year and we can start the new year. January's a tough month, lot of tough games for us, which is great, leading into February and state time, so we'll try to carry it through to next weekend,” head coach Kara Graham said after the win.
Junior guard Alexa Kastanek said, “We always plan to play our best and our best got us this win and got us the three wins to get here so it was a really good accomplishment for us.”
Lincoln Southeast (8-1) hopes the tournament win helps put them in position to keep winning down the stretch and get them back in the state tournament this March.
