Lincoln Southwest's season is over, two wins shy of a state baseball championship. The Silver Hawks fell 7-4 to Papillion-La Vista South on Monday at Hawks field, in the Class A State Baseball Championship Semifinals.
Southwest's Brayden Young pitched 4 2/3 innings allowing just one earned run, but it wasn't enough. "It's real frustrating," Young said. "I didn't want it to end up like this but we had a good season."
Southwest grabbed a 2-0 lead in the first inning but Papillion answered in the bottom half on a 3-run home run by Joseph Mancuso. The Silver Hawks fought back to tie the game at four, but the Titans pulled away scoring three runs in the fifth inning.
"We've been on a run all year we ended up 27-7 if I'm not mistaken," LSW head coach Doug Kalteneberger said. "That's a good year all the way through, so we were hot, but from beginning to end."
Lincoln Southwest finishes the season 27-7 overall.
