Three weeks after the Heartland Athletic Conference baseball tournament championship was postponed due to weather, there's finally a champion in the event — and it's the Lincoln Southwest Silver Hawks.
Lincoln Southwest got a 8-1 win over Lincoln Northeast in the game that was completed Monday afternoon at Sherman Field. It's the third tournament win for Lincoln Southwest, and the players hope the tournament win helps the momentum keep going.
"It feels really good knowing we won the HAC tournament and going in teams are going to be climbing up our shoulders so were just going to keep playing," junior pitcher Brayden Young commented.
"It's great it gives us great momentum. We're playing good and that's all we need to do we just have to keep winning," senior infielder Dylan Exstrom said.
