A Nebraska City football player is recovering at home after being injured during a game at Bennington High School near Omaha.
Spencer Radke was injured in the second quarter of the game Friday.
Radke says that he got hit in the back of his neck and lost consciousness.
His mother, Laurie Radke, says that when she heard that her son couldn't feel anything from the neck down, her heart "just dropped." She says Friday night was the longest of her life.
By the next morning, Spencer's condition had improved markedly and soon was able to leave The Nebraska Medical Center, wearing a neck brace.
Spencer hopes to return to action yet this fall.
