Several Omaha high school football players have been punished for a scavenger hunt plan that included getting photographed with "a topless chick" and "a fat chick" and stealing a yarmulke from a synagogue.
The Rev. Thomas Merkel is president of Creighton Prep High
School. He says the players' plans were inappropriate and
inconsistent with the goals of the all-boys Catholic school. He
says the boys did not follow through on their plans and that the
activities the boys did engage in on Oct. 20 were appropriate.
Merkel says he talked to the players involved and that a letter
was sent to their parents.
None of the players was suspended from school. Those involved served in-school suspensions and other punishment, including being barred from football practice.
