Platte Valley standout pitcher Tyler Peitzmeier tells 10/11 his college commitment to Cal State Fullerton is still "pretty strong," despite head coach Dave Serrano leaving Fullerton to take over at Tennessee.

Peitzmeier, a left-hander from Yutan, said it was "understandable" why Serrano left Cal State Fullerton for the Volunteers. Tennessee plays in the prestigious Southeastern Conference, and Serrano was an assistant coach at the school when the Volunteers advanced to the College World Series in 1995.

Serrano was Peitzmeier's primary contact during the recruiting process.

Peitzmeier said he had not talked with Serrano, but planned to by the end of the week.
