Norfolk did pretty much everything right in Friday’s first half against Lincoln Southwest as the Panthers grabbed a 10-0 halftime lead, however, Norfolk’s lead quickly vanished as the Silver Hawks turned things around in the second half and held on for a 34-23 win at Seacrest Field.
After the halftime break, Southwest quarterback Gunnar Peterson found Easton Edmond on a short pass. The very next play, Edmond found himself sprinting down the sideline and into the end zone for a 50-yard score.
Six minutes later, Southwest scored again on a 5-yard touchdown by Jamie Brown to take the lead late in the third quarter. Norfolk scored with 2:10 remaining in the game, but Southwest ran out the clock to preserve the win.
Southwest improves to 4-3 on the season and faces Lincoln Pius X and Lincoln East to close the regular season, while Norfolk falls to 3-4 on the year and faces Lincoln East and Lincoln Northeast to end the regular season.
