The Big Ten on Wednesday revealed its two 6-team divisions for the 2011 football season. Commissioner Jim Delany says the groups were split based on competitive equity, tradition, and geography. The divisions were unanimously approved Wednesday by school presidents.
Division #1
-------------
Nebraska
Michigan
Michigan State
Minnesota
Iowa
Northwestern
Division #2
--------------
Ohio State
Wisconsin
Penn State
Purdue
Illinois
Indiana
Teams will play all divisional opponents yearly. They will also face two out-of-division squads, along with a permanent cross-over game. Delany says the cross-over game will preserve traditional rivalries, such as Michigan vs. Ohio State. Nebraska's cross-over game will be against Penn State.
