All knotted up after four periods of hockey, Jason Gregoire wasted no time breaking the tie in double overtime, scoring 1:16 into extra session and sending the Stars to a 3-2 win in game one of their first round playoff series against the Sioux Falls Stampede.
The Stars now lead the best-of-five series 1-0.
The Stars jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first period when Jared Festler scored with 3:03 left. Sioux Falls tied it at 1-1 thirty-six seconds into the second period. The two teams traded goals in the third, sending the game into overtime.
David Reekie had 43 saves on 45 shots.
The series resumes Friday in Sioux Falls.
