From Jake Findlay's phenomenal half, to Danny LeDuc's dominance on the hill, it was a record setting season for high school athletics in Nebraska. Here are the nominees for Best Individual Performance of 2011-2012:
Best Individual Performance
Jake Findlay (Giltner): Making his first career start, the Giltner QB tied a Nebraska 8-man record with 487 yards passing in a win over Shelby. He did it, despite playing only a single play in the second half.
Danny LeDuc (Lincoln Pius X): The Lincoln Pius X junior wasn't perfect in the Thunderbolts 1-0 state tournament win over Omaha Skutt, but he was close. LeDuc fired a seven inning no-hitter, striking out nine batters and walking just three.
Ryker Fyfe (Grand Island): The Grand Island star did it all for the Islanders this year. Literally. Fyfe threw for a touchdown, ran for a touchdown, and even caught a touchdown in a 42-14 victory over North Platte.
Jed Fenske (Twin Loup): It was a record setting year for the Twin Loup standout. In his first year competing in the event, Fenske broke a record on the pole vault, clearing 15 feet, 4-and-one-half inches.
