Update Fonner Park Cancels Opening Day Races

Friday's snowstorm caused Fonner Park officials to cancel the opening day of Nebraska's 2009 horseracing season.

Live racing at Fonner Park is postponed, but simulcasting will still be held Friday, according to CEO Hugh Miner, Jr.

"The game plan is to dig out in the morning," he said Friday.

Live races are expected to be held Saturday and Sunday.

Grounds crews will be sent home early Friday to prepare for Saturday morning snow removal.
