The Omaha Golf Expo will give fans yearning for the advent of golf season a chance to dust off their swings, and maybe win $10,000 in the process.
The three-day golf party begins Feb. 27 at the Mid-America Center in Council Bluffs. Hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday Feb. 27, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday Feb. 28 and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 1.
Parking is free and children 17-and-under are admitted free. Tickets are $7 at the door and $2 discount coupons are available at www.omahagolfexpo.com.
Friday is Senior Day, on which golfers 55 and over can enter for just $4. Also on the website you can see a list of the guest speakers and major manufacturers due to appear in the 100-foot hitting net.
Just for registering for door prizes, golfers will receive a full year?s subscription to Golf Digest or Golf World, as well as a coupon for a free golf club, putting them well ahead of the game.
Among the guest speakers are three-time world long drive champion Sean "The Beast" Fister, who gives a highly-entertaining talk followed by an unforgettable power display. An outstanding lineup of expert instructors will be on hand as well.
James Sieckmann, who runs his own golf academy at Shadow Ridge, is a six-time recipient of the Nebraska Section PGA Teacher of the Year Award and the current short game coach for 14 PGA, Nationwide and LPGA players, including Tom Pernice, Charlie Wi and Juli Inkster.
Jim White and Greg Johannesen, club-fitting specialist from Wilderness Ridge Golf Course, will be speaking at 1 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday. Also appearing will be professionals from GolfTec, Bruce Lubach, the executive director of the Nebraska PGA Section, and Troy Martin, who is both a successful professional golfer himself as well as a caddie for D.A. Golfers can try their hand at the Harrah's Putting Contest, offering a top prize of $10,000, or try to win other great prizes at the long drive and Golden Tee contests, as well as the Ameristar Casino closest-to-the-pin contest.
