Family Donates $10 Million for Devaney Center Upgrade

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) -- The Nebraska athletic department has received a $10 million donation for the construction of a basketball practice facility and improvements at the Devaney Sports Center.

The gift is from the Tom and Mary Hendricks family. Associate athletic director Chris Anderson said Tuesday the Hendricks live in Nebraska but don't want their hometown revealed.

Athletic director Tom Osborne has said new practice facilities also are planned for wrestling and gymnastics. Osborne estimates the cost at $17 million, but NU Board of Regents approval is still needed.

Nebraska also announced fundraising is complete for the $10.5 million Student Life Complex. That project features the conversion of the old Memorial Stadium weight room into student service areas.
