Next Up: NIT?

Nebraska's opening round loss in the Big 12 tournament might've cost the Huskers a home game in the NIT. Did it cost NU a berth in the tournament altogether? Head coach Doc Sadler says no.

"There's no way an 8-8 team in this league is not gonna continue to play," Sadler said. "And if it doesn't, then they (the selection committee) needs to take a long look at themselves."

Sadler didn't shy away from any speculation about the Huskers' future. He, in fact, says there's "no question" his team will play on, while putting the pressure on tournament officials to select Nebraska.

"That's my opinion. I'm sure some people don't want to hear that, but that's how I feel."

Sadler says he's proud of his team and feels it deserves a second shot at the post-season. The third-year head coach points to the team's success in one of the country's top conferences as a reason they should be invited to the NIT.

"If its the 3rd-best league in the country, then the people in the conference office should take a long look at themselves why we don't have more teams in the post-season."

The NIT will select its 32-team field Sunday evening, following the NCAA Selection Show.
