Lincoln - Three contests against NCAA Tournament qualifiers highlight the Nebraska volleyball spring schedule announced Tuesday.
The Huskers, who finished 31-3 and advanced to their 11th National Semifinal in school history, will take on Hawai’i, Missouri State and Wichita State in exhibition matches, as all three teams won at least one NCAA Tournament match in 2008.
The Huskers return five starters from last year’s Big 12 Championship team, including All-Americans Sydney Anderson and Tara Mueller. Nebraska also returns All-Big 12 performer Kori Cooper, libero Kayla Banwarth and right side hitter Lindsey Licht, while Brooke Delano and Jordan Wilberger also earned starts for the Huskers in 2008.
The Huskers open the spring with a match at Hawai’i on Thursday, March 19, as they take on a Rainbow Wahine squad that went 31-4 and reached the NCAA Regional final where they lost to NCAA runner-up Stanford.
On April 4, the Huskers will make their return to the NU Coliseum, when Nebraska takes on Missouri State in a rematch of last year’s NCAA Tournament match. Tickets for that match are on sale on Huskers.com or by calling the NU Ticket Office at 800-8-BIG Red. All seating is General Admission with prices set at $10 (adults) and $8 (youth and seniors). In addition, all UNL students with a valid N-Card will be admitted free.
The following weekend, the Huskers head to Scottsbluff, where they will take on NCAA Tournament qualifier Wichita State at Western Nebraska Community College on Saturday, April 11. For the match in Scottsbluff, all seats are general admission and cost $10 apiece. Tickets for the NU-Wichita State match will go on sale on Wednesday, March 18, at 8 a.m. on Huskers.com or through the Nebraska Ticket Office at 800-8-BIGRED.
