Defending champion Iowa had a third-place finisher and two fourths on Saturday, taking the lead in the NCAA wrestling tournament heading into the final session.

The Hawkeyes had 97 points and a 9.5-point lead over second-place Ohio State, with Iowa State a distant third. But the Hawkeyes have only one wrestler in the 10 title matches, top seeded 149-pounder Brent Metcalf.

Ohio State, which led after the first two days, have three wrestlers in the finals. Nebraska and Edinboro, in fourth and sixth place, each had two finalists.

Iowa 164-pound Ryan Morningstar finished third, heavyweight Daniel Erekson and 184-pound Philip Keddy each finished fourth, and 133-pound Daniel Dennis was seventh.

Ohio State got a fourth-place finish from Lance Palmer at 149.
