The NCAA sent out its invitations for the women's gymnastics regional championships on Monday afternoon, setting the six-team field at the NCAA Southeast Regional. Competition will be hosted by North Carolina State University at Reynolds Coliseum in Raleigh, N.C., on Saturday, April 4 at 6 p.m. (CST).
Nebraska, which is 13-5 on the season and ranked 13th nationally, will face No. 1 Georgia, the four-time defending NCAA Champion, in addition to No. 12 Penn State, No. 21 West Virginia, North Carolina State and North Carolina. The top two teams will receive an automatic berth to the 2009 NCAA Championships hosted by the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, April 16-18.
As the regional's No. 3 seed, Nebraska will open the competition on floor.
NU’s duo of All-Americans – senior Tricia Woo and junior Kylie Stone – will lead the Huskers into the Southeast Regional after combining for four All-Big 12 honors last week. NU will also be led by Big 12 bars champion Brittney Williams and Big 12 Newcomer of the Year Lora Evenstad.
