SEWARD, Neb. – Concordia University, Nebraska Men’s Basketball Coach Grant Schmidt announced that Brent Houchin of Bruning-Davenport High School (Neb.) will play basketball for the Bulldogs beginning next season.

“We are so happy to have Brent coming to Concordia,” said Assistant Men’s Coach Anthony Elias. “We feel he is one the best players in the state and will be a major part of our basketball program for the next four years.”

The 6’7” Houchin will solidify the Bulldogs post position after the loss of senior Dusan Veslinovic. Houchin was a member of the Lincoln Journal Star Nebraska class D-1 all-state team as a first team selection. Houchin finished his senior season averaging 15.5 points and 10.0 rebounds per game.

Concordia finished the 2008-09 season in the semifinals of the Great Plains Athletic Conference Basketball tournament with a record of 20-12.
