Although Alex Gordon says he is pain free, he isn't 100-percent up to full speed. Gordon says his fielding ability is a bit behind in the recovery process following hip surgery on April 17th.

"I've been hitting fine," Gordon said. "That hasn't bothered me. Its kind of fielding - the sharp movement; sharp agility (that's bothersome)."

During Gordon's rehab, the Royals have him rotating days between third base and designated hitter to help ease him into playing the field.

"Its bang-bang plays over there," Gordon said. "That's been the hardest - to get the lengths underneath - the legs and get those movements."

Gordon batted second as the Omaha Royals during his one-game stint at Rosenblatt Stadium. He plans on playing third with the Northwest Arkansas Naturals Saturday night. In Arkansas, he hopes to see increased time in the infield. Gordon says he is open to playing any position upon his return to Kansas City. The former Husker was a situation first baseman for the Royals over the past few years.

"All I know is (Mark) Teahen is playing great third base and so is Billy (Butler)," Gordon said. "So wherever they put me, it doesn't matter. I've been out for awhile. Wherever they want to stick me, that's fine. I just want to be up there helping out and contributing any way that I can."
