Even though he wasn't drafted, Cody Neer's baseball career isn't over.

Neer will play independent baseball in the Northern League after signing with the Kansas City T-Bones. The Orlando will likely be the team's back-up catcher.

"I sat around the past few weeks wondering if I'd ever play baseball again," Neer said. "I came to the conclusion that if I got the chance, I would defeinitely take it. I stayed on cue with my workouts and game. The opportunity arose and of couse I'm going to take it."

Neer plans on joining the T-Bones Thursday when they return from the Northern League All-Star Break.

He played in 37 games this spring with Nebraska, hitting .292 with 2 home runs.
