A lawyer for a college athletic conference told Congress on Tuesday that it would be in the public's interest if the government investigated the system that determines college football's No. 1 team.

But Harvey Perlman, chancellor of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, said at the same Washington hearing that the BCS system simply recognizes that the public wants to watch powerhouse college football teams such as his.

Perlman is the new chairman of the BCS Presidential Oversight Committee.

Barry Brett, who represents the Mountain West Conference, raised the possibility of antitrust violations in the Bowl Championship Series during testimony before a Senate Judiciary subcommittee on Tuesday.

although I do think that a playoff system would be good for all parties seriously most of the teams that are complaining didnt have any one on their schedule that could compete with a major team like nebraska oklahoma or florida maybe a couple of there games were against a good team but come on. Case in point if you move the utah utes into the big 12 do I think they would go undefeated no not with oklahoma, nebraska, texas, texas tech just to name a fewthere is no way they would even have a complaint.

This is nothing short of whining. The feds have ALOT more important things to do than this. A playoff system would not be perfect either. The feds should be cutting not spending, protecting our rights-like religion, and not trying to take our rights away-like gun control.

do we seriously have the United Staes Government taking time to investigate the BCS. Dont they have other things to investigate such as why the fuel industries are still getting away with gashing prices sooo high.
