Former Nebraska football stand out Scott Shanle is a Super Bowl champion.
The New Orleans Saints defeated the Indianapolis Colts 31-17 in Super Bowl XLIV, giving Shanle and the town of New Orleans its first-ever Super Bowl ring.
Shanle played well in the game, finishing third on the team with five tackles to go along with two pass deflections, one of which came on a key third-and-goal pass from Peyton Manning on the Colts final drive.
Nebraska fans had two former Huskers come out winners on Sunday night, as offensive lineman Carl Nicks also started for the Saints, helping protect Drew Brees, and allowing the quarterback to complete 32 of 39 passes for 288 yards and two touchdowns.
