Ashland-Greenwood did just enough to prevail in a 14-6 first round playoff game over Syracuse on Thursday.
Ashland-Greenwood (7-2) held Syracuse to 2-yard-gains or fewer on 23 of their 66 plays on offense. The Rockets were held to just 99 yards in the final three quarters.
Syracuse (4-5) finishes the season after falling in the first round, a repeat of last year’s disappointing end to the year.
Next up for Ashland-Greenwood will be a trip to Fort Calhoun for a Halloween second-round matchup, where they look to avenge an earlier loss in the season, a 46-12 loss in Week 3.
