Big Ten Announces 2013 Conference Hoops Schedule

By  |

Nebraska learned its schedule for Big Ten Conference play Thursday morning, as the conference office unveiled the 2012-13 Big Ten men's basketball schedule. The Huskers' 18-game Big Ten slate will be rigorous, as the league led the nation in RPI in 2011-12 while sending nine teams to either the NCAA or NIT tournaments.

The Huskers, under first-year Coach Tim Miles, will be tested right out of the gate in conference action, as each of their first five Big Ten opponents played in the NCAA Tournament last season, including regular-season co-champions Ohio State, Michigan State and Michigan.

Nebraska begins Big Ten play on the road in Columbus on Jan. 2 against an Ohio State team that won 31 games and reached the NCAA Final Four in 2011-12. Later in the week, Nebraska will open the home portion of the conference slate against Wisconsin for the second straight season on Sunday, Jan. 6, taking on a Badger squad that reached the NCAA Sweet 16.

The Huskers will also square off with Purdue, Illinois, Northwestern, Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan State, Iowa and Minnesota at the Bob Devaney Sports Center with the Gophers closing out the Huskers' 37-year run at the facility on Wednesday, March 6. In addition, Nebraska will travel to Michigan, Michigan State, Penn State, Minnesota, Indiana, Wisconsin, Illinois and Iowa. The Huskers' single-play foes for 2012-13 are Northwestern, Purdue, Indiana and Michigan. This season, the Huskers will host Northwestern and Purdue and travel to both Indiana and Michigan, flipping the single-plays opponents from last year. The 2013 Big Ten Tournament takes place at the United Center in Chicago March 14-17.

Fans can see all of the action of the Huskers' final year at the Devaney Center by purchasing season tickets, which are on sale now for as little as $95 by visiting, calling 800-8-BIGRED or stopping by the Nebraska Ticket Office during business hours (Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.). Fans who purchase season tickets in advance of the upcoming season will have priority over the general public when the Huskers move into Pinnacle Bank Arena in the fall of 2013. Single-game tickets will go on sale to the general public on Thursday, Nov. 1.

Nebraska will host 18 regular-season games in the final season of the Devaney Center, beginning with the 2012-13 season opener against Southern on Sunday, Nov. 11. Nebraska's non-conference home schedule, released earlier in August, includes four games as part of the Joe Cipriano Nebraska Classic, as well as featured games against USC and Creighton. Nebraska's lone exhibition will take place against Midland University on Nov. 7.

Start times and television information for the upcoming season will be announced at a later date.
