Erstad, Huskers Optimistic in 2013

Nebraska's first year under Darin Erstad saw the Huskers return to a conference tournament. Now the Huskers are looking for an NCAA bid in 2013.

"We haven't really accomplished much in the last few years," said senior outfielder Rich Sanguinetti.

Nebraska's last NCAA Tournament appearance came in 2008. The Huskers, with a wealth of experience returning from last year's 35-23 team, feel they can contend for a Big Ten championship this spring. Nebraska returns 7 everyday starters, along with most of its pitching staff.

"I'd like to think we have fight in us," Erstad said. "I believe we're going to show up every weekend. We're going to be an uncomfortable team to play."

Nebraska opens the season on February 15th at Cal State-Bakersfield. The Huskers face an extremely difficult schedule which features 18 games against NCAA Tournament teams from last season.
