Robert Frost once wrote, "Two roads diverged in a wood, and I, I took the one less traveled by — and that has made all the difference."
For Lincoln East soccer standout Gabe Garbin, two years ago,
the road wasn't leading to playing soccer. In fact, he had never played soccer. Two years later — Garbin is one of the top players in the state and is on his way to Creighton on a Division I scholarship.
"It means the world to me, I've grown up watching them play, it's that school in Nebraska, if you can get to that level that you dream about at night, you can go to bed, hoping wishing you could play for them some day, and my dream came true fortunately," Garbin commented.
After watching Lincoln East reach the state championship game as a sophomore, Garbin knew the opportunity to play for the Spartans was too good to pass up.
"I saw how close the team got to each other and I wanted that," said Garbin.
In just two seasons with the Lincoln East soccer team, Garbin has taken the road less traveled by, he's achieved his success with hard work on the field and determination in the classroom — and next year, the road leads him to his ultimate destination — Creighton University.
