Haggerty Making Impact For Huskers in Freshman Season

In just five matches in her freshman season at the University of Nebraska, Meghan Haggerty is making an impact for the Nebraska Volleyball team.

Haggerty has tallied 33 kills so far this season and was just named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week on Monday. She garnered the honors after hitting .545 against UC Irvine on Saturday, recording seven kills to go along with four blocks.

The freshman middle-blocker notched a team-high 17 kills in a 3-2 win over previously ranked #1 UCLA a week ago Saturday at the NU Coliseum in a match that saw Nebraska take an early 2-0 lead, but had UCLA all tied up with the Huskers at 2-2, heading to a fifth and decisive set. Her 17 kills were the most by a Nebraska middle blocker since Tracy Stalls tallied 17 against UCLA during the 2006 National Semifinal match.

Haggerty and the Huskers host the Ameritas Players Challenge this coming weekend at the NU Coliseum with matches against Oklahoma, Duquesne and Kentucky.
