The No. 25/19 Nebraska women's basketball team closes its four-game home stand by playing host to No. 14/14 Purdue in a rematch of the 2012 Big Ten Tournament title game in Lincoln on Saturday, Jan. 5.
Tip-off between the Huskers (11-3, 1-0 Big Ten) and the Boilermakers (12-2, 1-0 Big Ten) is set for 1:05 p.m. (central) with live national television coverage by CBS. Dave Ryan and Debbie Antonelli will be on the call for the Huskers' first-ever women's basketball game on the network. It will also be Purdue's first and only trip to the Devaney Center for women's basketball.
Tickets for the game are available now at Huskers.com. As part of a holiday break promotion for the game, Lincoln Public Schools students (Eighth Grade and under) will receive free general admission seating, if they present a voucher that was available in the December issue of the LPS Community News.
The Husker Sports Network will provide a live radio broadcast of the game with Matt Coatney and Jeff Griesch on the call, including flagships B107.3 FM in Lincoln, The Wolf 93.3 FM in Omaha and 880 AM KRVN in Lexington. A free live audio stream will be available on Huskers.com.
Last season, Nebraska and Purdue met in a pair of epic struggles in the first-ever meetings between the two programs. The Huskers won the regular-season battle with a 93-89 3OT victory in West Lafayette, Ind., on Feb. 2. All-American Jordan Hooper led the Huskers with 27 points and seven rebounds, while Lindsey Moore added 26 points and seven boards.
Emily Cady produced a double-double with 11 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists, while hitting a miraculous 28-foot three-pointer at the buzzer to send the game to a third overtime.
In the Big Ten title game on March 4 in Indianapolis, Purdue outlasted the Huskers, 74-70 in 2OT. Moore led NU with 27 points, while Hooper produced 25 points and 10 boards. Lincoln native KK Houser led the Boilermakers with 19 points and five steals.
