Lincoln - The Nebraska women’s basketball team hits the road for the Thanksgiving holiday to take on USC in Los Angeles on Friday, Nov. 23. Tip-off between the Huskers (4-1) and Trojans (2-1) is set for 4 p.m. (Central)/2 p.m. (Pacific) at the Galen Center with live national television coverage on the Pac-12 Network. Ann Schatz and Rosalyn Gold-Onwude will provide the call.
The Husker Sports Network will provide a live radio broadcast of the game with Matt Coatney and Jeff Griesch on the call, including flagships B107.3 FM in Lincoln and The Wolf 93.3 FM in Omaha. A free live audio stream will also be available on Huskers.com.
Nebraska heads to California after running to an 85-72 victory over Sam Houston State at the Devaney Center on Tuesday night in Lincoln. Junior forward Jordan Hooper notched her second double-double of the season with 19 points and 10 rebounds, while sophomore forward Emily Cady added 18 points and six boards. Senior point guard Lindsey Moore pitched in 13 points, six rebounds, five assists and two steals in just 21 minutes of action, as the Huskers built a 31-point first-half lead before settling for the 13-point win against a Bearkat squad that returned four starters from a team that won 18 games a year ago. SHSU advanced to the second round of the 2012 Women’s Basketball Invitational.
USC enters Friday’s game with a 2-1 record after rolling to a 72-58 win over Arkansas State at the Galen Center on Wednesday night. The Women of Troy opened the season with a 63-52 loss to perennial NCAA Tournament qualifier Gonzaga on Nov. 11, before bouncing back with a 65-56 win over Pepperdine on Nov. 18.
Last season, Coach Michael Cooper and the Trojans produced an 18-12 overall record that included a 12-6 Pac-12 mark. USC finished third in the Pac-12 but did not compete in the postseason.
