Kearney Little League Beats South Dakota To Earn Trip To Little League World Series

Kearney Little League beat Clover Lake Little League 10-4 Saturday to earn a trip to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

Kearney was led by three scoreless innings from Thad Huber to finish out the game as well as a three-for-three game at the plate by starting pitcher Matt Masker.

The turning point of the game for Kearney was a two run home run by second baseman Blake Quintana in the third inning that broke a 4-4 tie.

Kearney would score four unanswered runs in the fifth inning to breeze to the 10-4 win.

Kearney Little League becomes the first team from Nebraska to represent the Midwest region since the field was expanded from eight teams to sixteen in 2001.

Kearney will play the winner of the Southeast Region, Goodlettsville, Tennessee, on Thursday, August 16 at 7pm on ESPN.
