Lincoln High Grad White Ranked #2 in D-II Wrestling

Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska-Kearney wrestling team is up five spots to eighth in the latest Division II Wrestling Coaches Association Top 25 poll.

UNK received 99 points this week, five behind Findlay (Ohio). The top four teams – St. Cloud State, Notre Dame College (Ohio), Central Oklahoma and Newberry (S.C.) --- remained unchanged.

Individually, redshirt freshman Daniel DeShazer (Wichita, Kans.) remains sixth at 133 lbs. with senior Raufeon Stots (Houston, Texas) dropping five spots to sixth at 149 lbs.

Three Lopers broke into the rankings this week in redshirt freshman Chase White (Lincoln H.S.), senior Chase Nelson (Wichita, Kans.) and junior Patrick Martinez (Hemet, Calif.).

White is now second at 157 lbs., thanks to a 23-9 record (15-2 vs. Division II competition). He won 31 times last year in open tournaments. Next, Nelson (19-3) is seventh at 165 lbs. with Martinez (5-0), a mid-year transfer from Wyoming, ranked fifth at 174 lbs.

UNK hosts Truman State (5:00 p.m.) and Lindenwood (7:00 p.m.) Saturday night at the Health & Sports Center. Neither of those schools is ranked or has a ranked wrestler.
