The Lincoln Pius X softball team was looking to repeat what they did exactly ten years ago – win a state championship and the Thunderbolts did just that in a 12-4 win over Elkhorn Friday in Hastings.
"It feels so good, we've waited four years for this, it means so much to each and every one of our seniors,” said Hope Ragon, Pius senior first baseman.
Head coach Don Rempe added the sentiment, "This is just so special, it's all about the kids, they worked hard all year, they've had this on their minds all year."
It's the second state championship for Lincoln Pius X this academic year as the baseball team captured the Class B title in May.
Lincoln Pius X finishes with a 27-7 record and a Class B state championship.
