With only three games remaining in the 2012 regular season, the Nebraska soccer team (6-9-1, 3-5-0 Big Ten) hits the road for a pair of games at Iowa and at Illinois, before ending the regular season at home with Minnesota on Friday, Oct. 26.
The Huskers will look to improve to 5-0-0 all-time against the Iowa Hawkeyes (11-3-3, 2-3-3 Big Ten) on Thursday, Oct. 18, when NU visits the UI Soccer Complex for a 7 p.m. game. The Hawkeyes started the season with nine straight wins, before dropping their Big Ten opener at Illinois, 2-1. Iowa went a perfect 11-0-0 during non-conference play, but has posted just a 2-3-3 record during league play. The Hawkeyes and Huskers enter Thursday in a three-way tie with Indiana for seventh place in the Big Ten standings.
The game is scheduled to be streamed on BTN.com (subscription required), and live stats will be available at Huskers.com.
After playing its first game of the year on a Thursday, the Huskers head to Champaign, Ill., on Sunday, Oct. 21, for a Noon meeting with the Illinois Fighting Illini (7-6-2, 4-3-1 Big Ten). Nebraska will be looking for its first ever win in the series, as the Illini hold a 3-0-0 record, including a 3-1 win in Lincoln last season.
After winning the Big Ten Tournament last season and finishing second in the regular-season standing, Illinois enters the week tied for fourth in the Big Ten with Minnesota, as each team has posted a 4-3-1 record.
