Ameer Abdullah says he's ready to take over as Nebraska's featured back in what could be his team's most important game of the season.

Coach Bo Pelini said Monday he was inclined to rest Rex Burkhead at least a week after the senior re-aggravated a knee injury against Northwestern. Pelini emphasized no decision has been made on Burkhead's status for Saturday's key Big Ten Legends Division game against No. 20 Michigan.

Burkhead left during Nebraska's second offensive series against Northwestern. He strained a ligament in his left knee in the opener against Southern Mississippi and missed the next two games. He first aggravated the injury in the third quarter of the Oct. 6 game against Ohio State.
