Leave it to an in-state product in Emily Cady to help the #23 Nebraska women’s basketball secure a 71-57 victory over #8 Ohio State Sunday afternoon at the Devaney Sports Center. At the moment Nebraska needed production, the Seward native helped the Huskers any way she could.
Before Sunday’s game, the Nebraska women’s basketball program honored Kaitlyn Burke, Harleen Sidhu and Layne Reeves. Sidhu suffered a season-ending injury and Reeves was forced to cut her Nebraska career short after suffering injuries.
Lindsey Moore scored 9 points, Brandi Jeffery and Jordan Hooper scored 8 points each in the win. Senior Kaitlyn Burke scored 4 points to help the Huskers.
Samantha Prahalis led Ohio State with 18 points and Taylor Hill added 16 in the loss.
Nebraska (21-7, 10-6) now waits to find out its seed in the Big Ten women’s basketball tournament beginning Thursday in Indianapolis.
