Adam Moon scored a team-high 20 points to lead St. Mary's to a 56-54 win over Pawnee City to capture the Class D1 state championship. Tait Sibbel scored 15 and Tyler Timmerman chipped in 10 points in the win.
The Cardinals shot 46 percent from the field in the game.
Pawnee City was led by Chase Grizzle with 13 points, Scott Borcher had 11 points and Devon Marteney added 10 in the loss.
The win is the first ever state championship for St. Mary's who finish the season with a perfect 28-0 record.
