If you hear any of the Nebraska women’s basketball games on the radio, you’re probably familiar with the play-by-play voice of the Huskers — Matt Coatney.
Coatney who’s been behind the microphone since 2001 keeps each broadcast the same.
"I'm going to be who I am. I can't imitate anyone else as well as I can Matt Coatney. Hopefully you feel the way I feel on a broadcast. If I've done that, then I'm happy," Coatney said.
Color commentator Jeff Griesch has high praise for Coatney’s passionate attitude.
He makes the game of women's basketball more accessable to fans. When he's screaming and I have the headphones on, I don't notice it. when he's that excited, I'm that excited," Griesch said.
Nebraska head coach Connie Yori agrees, “He [Matt] brings great energy to our program. When he travels with us, he always has a good story and kids like it.”
