The Nebraska football team wants to win a championship in 2012. Who knows more about winning titles than former Husker Grant Wistrom? He talked to the team Thursday night.
"You want to put the pads on right away when you here a guy like Grant Wistrom speak," senior Tim Marlowe said. "Our main thing here is accountability. That's what Grant talked about last night. There's only so much a coach and player can do with each other. Its all about what the players do with each other - holding each other accountable when you're out there on the field, not taking any plays off because you know that guy next to you is busting his butt every play."
"I think that's why they were so successful when they were here," said senior Cameron Meredity. "If they saw someone dogging it during practice, it was who's going to yell at him and say 'Hey, this isn't how we do it.' I think that's the number 1 thing."
"Its great to hear from a guy like that," Marlow said. "A guy who made it on all levels - won 3 championships, won a Super Bowl. You are on the edge of your seat when a guy like that is talking. He taught us something last night and we're ready to bring back the 90s here in Nebraska."
So the Huskers hope team accountiblity is the glue that holds them together in 2012. We'll see how well they hold up starting September 1st when they come running out of the tunnel against Southern Miss.
